The Iranian scientist was targeted by Mossad with a one-ton automatic gun: Jewish Chronicle

The Israeli intelligence agency Mossad delivered a one-ton automatic gun to Tehran to assassinate the Iranian nuclear scientist.

Reuters quoted the British newspaper Jewish Chronicle as saying that automatic gun pieces were smuggled to Tehran to target an Iranian scientist who was killed in November last year.

The newspaper quoted intelligence sources as saying that 20 Israeli and Iranian agents spied on Mohsen Fakhrizada for eight months before targeting him.

According to Reuters, the news agency is currently unable to confirm the report on its own.

Iranian media reported that scientist Mohsen Fakhrizada was shot in his car by unknown gunmen and died on arrival at the hospital.

After the assassination of the nuclear scientist, Iran pointed to Israel and Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif tweeted that "there are indications of Israeli involvement."

Israel declined to comment after the killing of an Iranian scientist.

An Israeli government spokesman said after the Jewish Chronicle's report that "we have never commented on such things and our position on this incident has not changed."

The 59-year-old Iranian scientist was suspected by Western nations of being the mastermind of Iran's secret nuclear program.
